State Bank Of Pakistan

Google Play Store has not suspended its Play Store services in Pakistan since December, but mobile addicts will not be able to download paid transactions using their mobile balance as the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has suspended Direct Carrier Payments (DCB).

Pakistani users will have to use their credit and debit cards issued by banks only to avail the services and most won’t be able to download apps from Google Play Store because of limited credit card facilities.

The Ministry of Communications, PTA and cellular drivers have appealed to the SBP to withdraw the move as the move will cause problems for users.

Earlier, Pakistani media was abuzz with false reports that Google would suspend all Play Store services from launch next month due to the central bank’s decision to freeze $34 million in payments to multinational service providers like Google through DCB.

Syed-Amin-Ul-Haq

But they are not true as Federal Information Technology and Telecommunication Department Syed Aminul Haque also explained this.

He said that Google’s free app services will continue to be available to users in Pakistan, adding that the SBP’s decision to block payments to international vendors will only affect those who want to download paid apps.

He said that the Ministry of Information Technologies decided to write a letter to the Ministry of Finance with a request to deal with this issue.

Haque said that suspending payments to international service providers would damage Pakistan’s reputation and also create difficulties for people using paid apps.

In addition, users can purchase applications despite the cancellation of the direct carrier payment (DCB) mechanism through bank cards.

It also suggests that a large number of mobile addicts will be ineligible to download apps from the Google Play Store due to limited credit card settings for some guests.

Reports say that the Ministry of Communications, PTA and cellular operators have appealed to the State Bank of Pakistan to withdraw the move, which will create hurdles for drug addicts.

In the letter, the officers argued that disconnection of such digital services due to non-payment will lead to problems in Pakistan in the social age of digital technology and should be avoided at all costs.

Top tech companies including Amazon, Google and Meta are being impacted from this decision od suspending (DCB) payment service and are most likely to discontinue their services further in Pakistan, it was also further warned by saying that it will be impacting the Pakistani users to fulfill their needs from platforms.

Meanwhile when all these decisions are coming in highlights the Telecom Ministry, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority also famously known as (PTA) and cellular service operators approached the State Bank Of Pakistan (SBP) requesting to withdraw the move as it will create problems for the users all across the country who are using paid services from these platforms.

It was communicated that the decision would impact the top tech companies like Amazon, Google and Meta which might push them to discontinue their services in Pakistan.

And on the other hand social media users from Pakistan have raised their voice and concerns over the State Bank Of Pakistan (SBP) decision, asking it to review their decision again.
